Thank you for exploring our website. As you get to know our faith community, I believe that you will find a community of people who are genuinely growing together with God and each other.
I am humbled that God has chosen to allow my family to serve Grace Bible Church in such an exciting season. As the sixth pastor for Grace in our eighty plus years of growth and life-change, I get to be a small part of leading a legacy. I feel every bit of the weight and joy of the vibrant story of which my family and our faith community get to be a part. I long for our church to truly be described as the type of church described in Ephesians 4:15-16, “…we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”
Grace Bible Church is more than a “box in the middle of a cornfield”, we are a people who have been changed by the grace of God and commissioned to make a difference in our world with the love of Jesus Christ. We are transformed lives transforming lives.
We would love for you to come grow with us.
Wan’t to know more about us? Our Vision, Mission, Beliefs, and History can all be found below.
“…we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” – Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV
…having a proper love for God, Self, Each Other, and The World
Growing in the love of God has more to do with our motives than our action. As we focus on this growth area, we want to ask what the people “feel”. This growth area has everything to do with enlarging the heart.
…through Studying Scripture and Sharing Stories together
Growing in the knowledge of God has everything to do with developing the backdrop by which we interpret life. As we focus on this growth area, we want to ask what the people “think”. This growth area has everything to do with renewing the mind.
…by making a difference inside of the church & outside the church
Growing in the work of God has everything to do with what we are doing. As we focus on this growth area, we want to ask what the people “do”. This growth area has everything to do with using our strength or hands and feet.
…by looking like Him in character and purpose.
Growing in the image of God has everything to do with who we are…our soul. As we focus on this growth area, we want to ask what people “see”. This growth area has everything to do with God being seen through us. People should see us as “holy and blameless”.
We understand that God has given us a mandate to do everything we can to help people to mature in Christ. The Apostle Paul felt this drive when he wrote in his letter to the Colossian Church, “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.” (Colossians 1:28-29 ESV).
We believe the bible is without error and is inspired of God. It forms the basis for what we believe and how we behave.
We believe there is one true God, who is Holy, Eternal, Existing in three persons (Father, Son & Holy Spirit). God is revealed through His creation of the universe, through the Bible and in the person of His son, Jesus Christ.
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God. We believe that the Holy Spirit has an active ministry to the world, including the restraining of evil, encouragement of righteousness, and the conviction that judgement is coming for those who reject Jesus Christ.
We believe that it is God’s desire for all men to spend eternity with Him, but man has chosen to sin, thus separating himself from a Holy God. In order to provide a way for man to find acceptance and fellowship with God, Jesus Christ paid the price for man’s sin by offering Himself as the perfect and complete sacrifice. The only way for a person to find eternal salvation is to have a personal faith in Jesus Christ as their substitute and savior from sin. God makes this salvation available as a gift to all who trust in Christ as Savior.
We believe that death seals the eternal destination of each person. The people who accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior during their life on earth will spend eternity in communion with God and will be rewarded for their faithful service on the earth. Those who do not put their trust in Christ for salvation will be sent to eternal condemnation in the lake of fire.
For almost eight decades, Grace Bible Church has been helping people grow together with God and others.
From the dream of two women who wanted to impact their community for Christ, this faith community started meeting in a small room in a township hall west of Joliet. In spite of the smell of stale beer and kegs found in the room, the fellowship of believers grew. They soon found land and built a structure in Shorewood. In 1998, Grace outgrew that structure forcing them to need in Minooka High School. In 2001 they returned to the Shorewood location and experienced another surge of growth that required four weekend services. A new dream emerged moving attention on 25 acres in the middle of a cornfield four miles west of town. In 2006, the faith community built a modern multi-purpose structure where the communities of Minooka, Plainfield, and Shorewood come together geographically. This is where our church meets today.
In 2011, our church called its sixth Lead Pastor. With Jason Miley, God is continuing His purposes through Grace. Through further strengthening and creative planning Grace remains a vibrant faith community growing together with God and each other. Since Jason’s arrival, the church is growing and there is a renewed sense of God’s grace and purpose for our church.
